Welcome
My name is William Baker! I'm offering a music studio centered on community where students can regularly share and celebrate their progress, get feedback and draw inspiration from each other, and get to know one another in our monthly studio gatherings! About Inspire Studios
Inspire Music Studios offers a number of traditional and unique ways for students to engage with music and with each other.

Currently offering:
-
Weekly one-on-one lessons: This is the "bread and butter" of music instruction, where concepts are explained, assignments are given, and feedback is shared.
-
Weekly group practice sessions: In these virtual meetings, students will join in at the same time each week, mute themselves along with everyone else in the meeting, and practice "side by side." The concept, introduced to me in my COVID year orchestra, gives students the motivation of knowing others are practicing with them, the accountability of being seen by their peers, and a space to ask and answer questions about difficult passages and practice suggestions.
-
End of semester recitals: This is the main event of the semester where students are able to share the best of what they've worked on over the course of instruction. Students will prepare one or two pieces in their individual lessons for the primary purpose of sharing it here.

Planned with sufficient enrollment:
-
Monthly studio-wide gatherings: These lively events give students the opportunity to meet one another and hone musical knowledge and skills in music-themed party games, or play the occasional non-musical game.
-
Monthly group performance lessons: In addition to the recitals at the end of the semester, students will have these more regular opportunities to perform the things they've learned for each other and share feedback in an encouraging environment.

About me
William Baker has been playing piano since he was eight years old. Before entering college, William auditioned and was selected as the Arkansas Symphony Youth Orchestra’s pianist. His solo repertoire during that year also won him best in class for the Searcy Community School of Music’s solo festival, a seat in the Music Teacher’s Association of Central Arkansas’ Honor’s recital, and a scholarship to attend Harding University.

During college, William performed memorized solo recitals of 25 minutes his junior year and 50 minutes his senior year. He is a two-time winner of the Queen Piano Award, a scholarship for college piano majors in the central Arkansas area. He was also hired to play piano parts for the Searcy High School string orchestra, accompany students of a local music teacher, and played accompaniments for fellow students during class performances and sometimes accompanied their students. He recently accepted a position as accompanist for First Baptist Church in Cabot, and is starting up a choir at HOPE homeschool co-op.

William began teaching independently in 2019 and continued to teach under the Searcy Community School of Music through all eight semesters of college. During his time at Harding, he took classes in Independent Studio Teaching, Piano Pedagogy, Studio Internship, and Music Literacy.

William holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Harding University. He was a student of Dr. Scott Carrell from February 2018 until May 2025.
